Team Formation

Team Formation

T-Ball and Single A Baseball and Softball
T-Ball and Single A are considered "non-competitive" with the goal of creating a fun, learning environment for the players. Teams will be formed by the Player Agent(s) and Board with an attempt to mix players based on skill levels as well as considering requests to be teammates with friends. Requests for teammates/coaches are not guaranteed. Playing with new teammates is good for leaning teamwork, skill development, socialization, and fair play. Players in these divisions do no participate in Team Formation Practices or the Player Draft.

Team Formation Practices
Players are strongly encouraged to attend both of the Team Formation Practices. These practices are approximately 60-70 minutes and usually involve players participating in defensive drills or batting practice stations for 10-15 minutes before rotating to the next station/drill. These sessions are indoors in early March, and offer a great way for players get back into playing before the season starts, as well as giving coaches the opportunity to see the various skill levels to create competitive, well-balanced teams utilizing players from all skill levels.

Player Draft:

Baseball and Softball teams (Majors, Minors AAA, AA) will be formed via a player draft.  This draft will occur after the (2) two Team Formation Practices have taken place. Players who attend one, or both, of the Team Formation Practices will be eligible to be drafted by a coach for their team. Players who do not attend at least one (1) Team Formation Practice will have their names placed into a hat and the HLL Board will randomly draw for team placement after the player draft has concluded. These players will then be added to team rosters without coach input. This same process is followed for late registrations (if allowed based on availability).
